A Very Special Memory

August 20, 2019

I want to share a special memory I have that will last for generations or at least until I die, whichever is first.

Kelly and I made a trip out to Arizona to spend some time with my Uncle Glenn & Aunt Joann.  (My Uncle has since gone to be with the Lord.)  Every time we went to see them both when they lived in OK and in AZ my Uncle always put on the best meals.  My mouth still waters just thinking about it.  I always enjoyed the meals but I also enjoyed the time we were able to spend with them.

The time we went to see them in AZ they gave us the royal treatment like they always did.  This time we went to see the Grand Canyon.  We left the night before and stayed in a Hotel just before we got there so we would have the entire day to see the Grand Canyon.  I was born in AZ and I had seen the Grand Canyon many times but this was one I won’t forget.  The other times I was much younger and it didn’t seem as wonderful as it did this time.

We had a wonderful day and I think this was Kelly’s first time to see the Grand Canyon and I enjoyed being able to see it with her and my Uncle & Aunt.  We had a great day and then we drove home.

I remember on the trip home that Aunt Joann drove and it was really windy.  I don’t remember but I know if I were driving in the wind it takes a lot out of me.  I remember when we got back that Uncle Glenn served leftovers and they were as good the second time as they were the first time.  I don’t know how he did it but it was great.  I am sure Aunt Joann helped him but I don’t remember all the details as it a lot of stuff going on.  I just remember it being a wonderful time

Now my Uncle is gone to Heaven but I still have the wonderful memory we had of seeing the Grand Canyon and enjoying some time with them.
