A Complaint Gone Wrong

Someone wrote me and asked if it was wrong from Christians to complain when they were treated unfairly or they were having a bad experience. I want to share story about what happened to Kelly and I when we made a complaint while staying in a Hotel.

Kelly and I had decided to get away for a couple of days and we made reservations in a nice Hotel in Missouri.

We got into our room and we went out for dinner and came back for a relaxing evening. We were watching a little TV from our hot tub and relaxing. Upstairs it sounded like they were dancing and maybe possibly having a wrestling match. While we were in the hot tub we decided not to say anything but after we went to bed and it kept on we just had to complain. I called the front desk and they said they would take care of it.

We fell asleep with all the noise and after we had been asleep about an hour we were woke up to a knock on the door. It was the St Charles Police department. There were two police officers and they said the management had called them and wanted us removed from the property. They said the people above us complained and said it sounded like we were having a wild party. I told the officers that they were making a mistake that we were the ones that complained about the people above us.

They told us that the management was kicking both us and the folks above us for making so much noise. They said the people upstairs complained about the noise we were making. We weren’t making any noise we were asleep.

They made us pack all of our stuff and leave the hotel. I tried to talk with the Hotel manager and he just said he wanted us out.

We left and drove home and we were afraid that the people above us might follow us home and cause a problem. There was about 15 to 20 of them came over to our car and harassed us. The police finally made them go back to their car.

It was almost 3am when we got home and got into our own bed. Both Kelly and I were upset and when I woke up in the morning I wrote a very nasty review on the Choice Hotel website. (Every once in a while it pops up when I search my name.)

I did get a call from the Hotel and an apology but I was still mad. They gave us a room in another hotel and we got three nights and didn’t have to pay. They did charge us for the one night we stayed at the other Hotel for one of the two nights we had booked. It was a very crazy night I wouldn’t want to experience that again.
