Dear Pastor Sam

Dear Pastor Sam,

I have a question for you that might not be a usual question.  I heard a preacher the other week who told his people that he would guarantee that if the people would give their tithes each week that they would reap blessings and rewards beyond measure.  He promised at the end of the year if they didn’t he would refund all money given to the church.  What do you think of this?  Is this some type of scam?

                                Is This For Real

Dear Is This For Real,

I believe if you give to the Lord your tithes and offerings that He will bless you but I don’t think it is proper for the Pastor to promise a refund if you feel you didn’t get enough blessings.  I would think the church would have to authorize anything like that.  I don’t think it is a scam but I think you were made a promise and the Pastor doesn’t expect anyone to ask for a refund.  He expects that you would be embarrassed to ask for money back from the church.

God has blessed me beyond anything I could ever expect but I have never heard of anyone expecting money back because they didn’t get blessed beyond measure.  I would ask for clarification on this if you are concerned.
