Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time to express our thanks to God for all His blessings. When I was at Pleasant View every Thanksgiving we had this big wonderful dinner the Sunday before Thanksgiving. I always looked forward to it as we had some great cooks in our Church and they would out do themselves and make a meal that still makes my mouth water.

I have a great deal of things to be thankful for. God has been very good to me and I thank Him for all the blessings He has bestowed on me. I had 34 years of wonderful service as a Pastor and several years before that as a Junior Church Pastor. I am married to a very wonderful wife who has made big sacrifices so that I could serve the Lord. I have six wonderful children, two of my own and four step-children. I have two grandchildren from my son, Paul. I have six other grandchildren from my step- kids. Each of them is a real blessing to me.

My health has not been bad and I can thank God for that. I am thankful for my brothers, Tommie and Dan and my sister Mary (Anny) and their spouses. I am thankful for all my nieces and nephews of which I can’t count anymore.

I am thankful for my Dad who has been a great inspiration to me over the years. I am thankful for the time God gave my Mother to me. I still appreciate the impact she had on my life. I am thankful for my mom who stepped in and helped raise me after my Mother died. It wasn’t an easy task but she did it and I am still here. I pray for her as I know she hasn’t been feeling well lately. I am thankful for the years I had my Uncle Glenn around. He was a blessing to me and my brothers and sister. We miss him every day. I am thankful for my Aunt Joann who has been there for me over the years. She believed in me when others gave up on me. I am also thankful for my Uncle John and Aunt Betty and I miss them very much. I also am thankful for my Uncle Charles & Aunt Mary. I miss them too. I am thankful for my Aunt Tye and I miss her. She had a wonderful spirit. I love all my cousins and their families. Molly has been a great cousin and I love her. She has real character and I love her.

I am thankful for all the friends I have made over the years while I was a Pastor. I can’t name them all as I might miss someone but I love them all. Some still keep in touch and I appreciate that.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and don’t forget to thank God for all of His blessings.
