A True Story From My Past
When I was a young boy I had an experience I will never forget. It taught me a lesson that I will never forget. Some of you will say it is racist but it isn’t and it means a great deal to me.
It was around Halloween and I had a friend who was black but so I don’t offend anyone I will call him African-American. I was very young and didn’t know how to be politically correct. Actually I had never heard of the word.
We were walking down a road and a car drove over the curb and almost hit me. My friend pushed me out of the way and the car drove on. He was very angry at what happened and walked all over the town to see if he could find the car. He found the car and he had remembered seeing a dent in the driver’s side fender so he knew it was the car.
He went to the police and told them but they never did anything about it. We decided to drop it because we didn’t want to cause a problem.
The one thing I remember from this was it isn’t the color of your skin that matters, it is what is on the inside. Just because you are a different color on the outside doesn’t mean you are bad or good. Don’t judge people by their looks make sure you see what is on the inside.
