Forgive And Forget

One of the hardest things I have ever learned was to forgive and forget.  You have to put both of these together to be successful.  You can't just chose one you must do both.

One time I ask someone why should I forgive if they don't ask for my forgiveness.   Then I realized  that they don't care if you forgive them and if you don't forgive and forget you will live with a pile of grief.

I remember one time when I was in Baraboo I always set the heat and one October Sunday it was a bit chilled and so I turned on the heat to kill the chill and before the service started I turned it off.  For some reason it didn't click off and it got really hot in the service.  I was preaching on Hell that Sunday and so one of the ladies in the church thought I did it on purpose.  She never forgave me and she was not going to forget it.  She told everyone she met about the situation and shared how upset she was.  One day I was in the Post Office and someone told me that this lady was a very bitter woman.  They shared what they had hear from her and I told them what happened.  They laughed and said she lives a very bitter life.  I went to her and tried to clear the air but she wouldn't hear of it.  Many years later I heard that she was still telling the story and she was still very bitter.

I want you to know that you don't want to live your life like that.  You can have a happier life if you just forgive and forget.  God forgives us of our sins and He forgets our sin and moves it as far as the east is from the west.  Why can't we forgive and forget too?

I promise you that you will be a better man or woman if you forgive and forget.  Go one step farther, forgive and forget even if they don't ask you to forgive them.  Be the better person.

Let me know how it goes.
